For those who don't know Rick Rubin, he is one of the most influential creatives of our time. He has worked with countless artists from Jay-Z to Johnny Cash. If you haven't had the opportunity to listen to him speak, you are missing out. He is one of the most thoughtful, insightful, gifted people I have ever had the pleasure of learning from.
Whether you work with creatives, entrepreneurs, teams, or just yourself I always learn so much from Rick. His recent interview with Brian Koppelman was exceptional. His insights apply to so many aspects of leadership. I regularly fall short of being the leader I aspire to be (I did so today in fact), but I feel truly fortunate there are voices like Rick's to inspire us.

If there is a problem to be solved, and I have a solution, and the artists doesn't like my solution, it tells me we haven't gone far enough to find the best solution...it just means we aren't there yet. It doesn't mean I have to convince them. I never want to convince anyone of anything. I want to do the work so that the artist says .."Wow, this is what I wanted" It just means we aren't there yet.
