Fascinating recent history of Amazon transforming it's business model

Ok, I admit it, I still love my kindle. I can remember pre-ordering my kindle before the initial launch (for a crazy amount of money at the time) for device no one had ever seen before. I've have now purchased several iterations of the device and even though it is a uni-tasker, and you can use your other tablets and phone with kindle apps to read ebooks, the kindle still does it best. The book excerpt is a fascinating read on how a company based on the supply of physical products pivoted to a digital content and hardware provider.

The Kindle debuted to the world in 2007, four years after that sushi meeting with Steve Jobs. It sold out in less than six hours. Amazon was never the same.
