Bill Seeks to End Using Acquitted Conduct at Sentencing.

What can bring together the Cato Institute and the National Association of Federal Defenders?  The push to end the practice of considering acquitted conduct at sentencing.  Senators Durbin and Grassley have teamed up to introduce a bill to end the practice.  This should be a no-brainer.

"Federal law inexplicably allows judges to override a jury verdict of 'not guilty' by sentencing defendants for acquitted conduct," Durbin said in a statement Thursday.
